Birnbaum suggests we should “take a pill”.

Really?

Executive Director of the Quebec English School Boards Association, David Birnbaum, is quoted in The Gazette:

“We think everybody should just take a pill,” said David Birnbaum, executive director of the Quebec English School Boards Association (QESBA).

This is in response to the uproar over Riverside school board replacing $5000 worth of keyboards because they’re not French keyboards.

Are you kidding?

It’s an issue.  School boards often don’t seem to have the money to keep paint on the walls.  IT’S AN ISSUE.  And to have the Executive Director of the QESBA trivialize it like this is an issue as well.

These are our advocates.  This is the association that exists to advocate for our English school boards.  And if they don’t think that this wholesale waste of money is important?

I have already been reconsidering the importance of the QESBA and the money we spend on it.  This type of attitude certainly pushes me further away from the belief that they “get it” when it comes right down to it.

$5000 matters.

Wasting money matters.

Forcing us to spend $5000 on changing keyboards in an English school board so that it complies with Law 101?   That’s obscene, it’s wasteful and it matters.

Sorry David – I’m not “taking a pill”.  I am arguing for what is right.  And you should do the same – it’s what we pay you for.

Truly,

Steve
